It appears Jenny from the Block is heading back into the studio, and she’s enjoying some very fruitful sessions.
This fall, Jennifer Lopez bid adieu to her twins—Max and Emme—as they headed off to college, leaving the “On the Floor” singer as an empty-nester. Now, Lopez is opening up about how the shift has had a surprisingly positive impact on her music.
“They take up such a big part of your brain for so long, and when they’re gone, which is devastating and sad and scary, you’re facing a life that’s totally different now, and you’re like, ‘What am I going to do with this space and this time?'” she told Variety.

J.Lo went on to explain: “For me, I just went back in the studio. I’ve written some of the best songs that I’ve ever written, and I’m really excited… It’s a very happy era album. It’s some of the most joyous, beautiful songs that have just a tad of a tear in them.”
The first single from this forthcoming era will be called “Proof of Love,” and it will feature on the first-ever vinyl pressing of Lopez’s 2011 album Love?, which will be released in November. Her last studio album, This Is Me… Now, came out in February 2024.
On the significance of “Proof of Love,” Lopez said: “It’s really a beautiful song about this kind of duality. It’s this happy dance song, and these are the things that are the proof of love. One of them is pain and grief when someone’s gone. You feel pain and grief. That’s really proof of love.”
Earlier this year, Lopez got candid about the heartbreaking experience of watching her children leave the house, while noting that the change also gave her a chance to dig deeper, creatively. “You know, you’re so excited for them to step into this new era of their life, but it’s also, we have to remember, it’s a new era of our lives too,” she said in an Instagram clip on the JLo Beauty account. “And maybe it’s time to revive some old dreams that you had. Something you put aside during the time that you were raising your kids, or things you didn’t have time for.”
