Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse’s love story began at the 2017 Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party with an unexpected encounter—and an exchange straight out of a romantic comedy.
From an Instagram DM and a decidedly not-so-casual first date in China to a fairy-tale wedding in Palvin’s home country, Hungary, and the recent arrival of their first child, their relationship has had no shortage of memorable milestones. Through it all, Sprouse has remained one of Palvin’s biggest cheerleaders, especially at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, where he can always be seen giving a standing ovation for his VS angel wife.

They meet at the Bazaar Icons party

The Victoria’s Secret model and actor meet for the first time at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party. During an interview on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast, Sprouse recounts the meet-cute that took place when Palvin tries to cut him in line for the red carpet.
“Totally like a rom-com,” Sprouse says of the moment, “She just jumps over the red velvet divider and cuts me. And I was like, ‘I don’t care how pretty you are, you’re not cutting me.’ And she turns around, and I’m wearing this red-and-white striped shirt, and she goes, ‘What, are you a hot dog vendor?'”
After the encounter, Sprouse slides into Palvin’s Instagram DMs—but Palvin doesn’t reply for six months. “I slid into her DMs,” the actor tells W Magazine in 2019. “I was like, ‘Hey, I don’t know if you’re in New York for very long, but we should hang out if you want to. Here’s my number.’ And she didn’t message me for six months.”
Palvin explains the delay in her response: “I took my time. I knew I wasn’t in a good mindset at the time, and maybe deep inside I knew that it could be something more,” she says.
They have their first date during a work trip to China
June 2018
Palvin flies to China, where Sprouse is on a work trip, for their first official date. In a later interview with People, she says, “I was supposed to work in China, and then they canceled the job. And I was like, ‘Do you think that’s crazy that I still want to go and see you?’ Because I was so excited. And he was like, ‘Please come.'”
The couple makes their relationship official after the trip.

Sprouse attends his first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show as Palvin’s boyfriend, cheering her on as she returns to the runway for the first time in six years. Backstage, the model reveals that her boyfriend has a post-show treat waiting for her: “He is bringing Shake Shack burgers for me,” she says. Sprouse is later spotted cheering her on from the audience.
After the show, Palvin shares a photo of the two kissing on Instagram, captioning it, “Better than burgers.”
They move in together

They move into an apartment in New York City together. Palvin commemorates the milestone with a selfie of them on Instagram, captioned, “Two worms officially in the Big Apple.”

Palvin officially gets her Victoria’s Secret Angel wings, which she calls “the ultimate career high,” in an interview with People. She reveals that Sprouse is the first person she shared the news with, “He couldn’t believe it. Then he was like, ‘I told you. I knew it,'” she says.
She then shares an Instagram post thanking Sprouse and all her friends, who planned a party to celebrate her new angel status.

They’re reportedly engaged

The couple sparks engagement rumors in early March when they’re spotted at the Mammoth Film Festival and Palvin has a diamond ring on her ring finger. Not long after, a source tells Entertainment Tonight that the couple is, indeed, engaged.
“They have been showing off her ring to people and are so happy,” the source says. “They’re always very in love with one another and by each other’s sides, but they’re even happier than usual. They can’t wait to start this chapter together.”

The couple officially ties the knot! Palvin and Sprouse marry on her parents’ property in her native Hungary, with the bride wearing a Vivienne Westwood gown paired with Tiffany jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes.
Though the couple initially envisioned a small celebration, their guest list grows to over 100 people. “The past weekend was supposed to be an intimate event, but we ended up having 115 guests in the end because there are a lot of people we care about, and we wanted them all there,” Palvin tells Vogue Weddings, which exclusively shares photos from the ceremony.

Palvin supports Sprouse at the premiere of his new movie, The Duel. She shares photos of them kissing on the red carpet at the premiere and writes about how proud she is of her husband.

After Palvin undergoes surgery for endometriosis, Sprouse shows his support for her by passing out yellow endometriosis awareness pins at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The actor speaks to E! News on the red carpet ahead of the runway show, sharing how proud he is of his wife for enduring the procedure, and advocating for more awareness surrounding endometriosis in general.
While discussing the surgery backstage with E!, Palvin shares how helpful Sprouse has been during the whole experience. “Dylan’s been extremely supportive,” she gushea, “and helped me through the whole recovery process and everything.”

Dylan protects Barbara during a home invasion
April 17, 2026
TMZ reports that the couple’s Hollywood Hills home is the target of an attempted burglary. According to law enforcement reports, Sprouse confronts an intruder and tackles him, holding him down until the police arrive. A few days later, Palvin and Sprouse comment on the incident during an interview at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Sprouse jokingly shows off his karate moves when asked about the break-in.
“We’re good. We’re just happy to have this distraction, you know,” Palvin says. In another interview that night, they say they’re using humor as a coping mechanism. “It’s dealing with the trauma with jokes and fun,” the model adds.
